Hulon T. Benson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
In 2005, brothers Jeff and Thomas Benson established the Hulon T. Benson, Jr Memorial Scholarship in memory of their father. The scholarship offers financial support to minority students pursuing a career in accounting. Hulon Benson took some accounting classes at the Lansing Business College but spent his life as a construction worker in the Lansing area.
Jeff and Tom both graduated from Everett High School. Tom then attended LCC before transferring to Michigan State University. After high school, Jeff attended MSU and received a degree in accounting. They are now both Certified Public Accountants. Jeff served on the LCC Foundation Board of Directors for three terms, including multiple terms as Treasurer. Tom and Jeff chose to establish the Hulon T. Benson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship at LCC because of their close association with the college and their belief in the mission of LCC.
