Clarke and Nancy Borgeson Technology Scholarship

Our intent of the scholarship was to provide an additional educational opportunity to graduates of Leslie High School in Leslie, Michigan. Nancy and Clarke came to Leslie, Michigan in 1996 to build and operate a manufacturing facility in the Leslie Industrial Park. The facility provided space to do technological development, manufacturing, and fulfillment for the customers of Huron Technologies, Inc.

We were welcomed by the Leslie community and felt a commonality with the community. The company prospered while in Leslie and eventually developed a line of specialized lubricants for the molding of thermoset plastic and sold products to customers throughout North America and in countries on 4 continents.

The scholarship at Lansing Community College was thought to be a way that we could give something back to the community. The scholarship will continue to provide future opportunities for the graduates of Leslie High School.

Initially, the scholarship was offered to graduates wanting to study science, technology, and mathematics, but in recent years the scholarship direction has diversified to fund other courses of study to better the career interest of the student.
