Bill Petry Endowed Scholarship

Julia Petry and Hisham Petry established the Bill Petry Endowed Scholarship to honor and memorialize the life of William “Bill” Petry.

Bill was a Professor of Mathematics at Lansing Community College for 36 years. His door was always open and he went above and beyond to extend his help and give every student the best chance for success. Bill was a tireless advocate for peace and social justice.

Qualifications

• Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a Liberal Studies Program at Lansing Community College, pursuing a teaching career within the K-12 educational system
• Recipient may be full or part-time
• Recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
• Recipients must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and volunteerism
• Preference will be given to In-District students
• Financial need will be considered
