Osborn Scholarship for Skilled Trades

Realizing the future need for skilled professionals, Tom and Jayne Osborn wish to create this endowment in the mechanical trades programs as a means to provide financial support to individuals who might otherwise not have the opportunity. The intent of this endowment is to provide a future for recipients who show the talent and desire to follow such vocations but lack the financial resources to pursue the training.

Tom is from Coldwater, MI attended Albion College and Northern Michigan University before working as a millwright, specializing in the design, construction and repair of packaging machinery. After working with several packaging machine manufactures and food packagers, Tom completed his career at Post Cereals in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Jayne is from Ithaca, MI graduating from both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. She worked her entire career at MSU in several departments but spent the majority of her career as an administrator in University Advancement Office.

Qualifications

  • Scholarship recipients shall be enrolled in a Center for Manufacturing Excellence, Transportation Technologies, or Utility and Energy System program
  • Recipients shall be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
  • Recipients shall maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Financial need will be strongly considered
