Deb Bishop Scholarship

Professor Bishop first came to LCC as a dual-enrolled student while in High School. She later came back to LCC when she needed to take a semester off to help her parents when her dad became seriously ill. When she decided she wanted to teach, LCC was her dream because she knew how important it was to the community and meeting the needs of all different kinds of people. She received her BS in Education with a major in sociology and minors in psychology and political science from Central Michigan University, as well as a MA in Sociology and Psychology. She also did her graduate work in sociology at Purdue. She worked as a professor of Sociology for 28 years at LCC.

Qualifications

• Recipients shall be enrolled in the Sociology program at Lansing Community College
• Recipients shall be enrolled as a full or part-time student
• Recipients shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
• Financial need will be considered
