Moloney-Peterson Scholarship

Maureen Moloney and Doug Peterson have been Lansing area residents since the 1970s. Maureen has worked as a Social Worker in the field of mental health and as an educator at the Michigan State University School of Social Work. Doug has worked in the field of Computer/Information Technology. Both have a strong value and deep belief in education and training beyond high school, in its ability to not only change and improve the lives of the students enrolled in these programs but assist the community at large by the services provided by these graduates. They have experienced the benefits of Lansing Community College courses in their careers and know the role that LCC plays in the greater community.

They also have a strong commitment to social justice and know that there can be many challenges to achieving life goals. It is hoped that this scholarship will assist those not only in financial need but those who may have experienced marginalization in their lives. They hope that this scholarship will help students to achieve the academic and professional success for which they are striving.

Qualifications

  • Recipients may be enrolled in any program at LCC
  • Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Primary preference will be given to financial need
  • Preference will be given to minority applicants
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have personal experience with mental illness
