Jeffrey Creel Scholarship by Consumers Energy Foundation

This scholarship is provided by the Consumers Energy Foundation to honor the memory of Jeffrey H. Creel, a Consumers Energy electric line worker killed on June 22, 2012, by a passing vehicle while investigating a downed power line. His death has resulted in an increased effort by his friends, family, Consumers Energy, and other utility companies to educate the driving public about roadside worker safety.

The recipients of the scholarship must be actively enrolled and in good academic standing in the Utility Line Worker Program at LCC. They must have successfully completed all requirements and be selected for enrollment into the 10-week courses delivered at Consumers Energy’s training facility in Marshall.

Qualifications

  • Recipients must be enrolled in the Utility Line Worker program
  • Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
