Marian Schoff
Marian Schoff was born April 24, 1922, in Williamston, Michigan, daughter of the late William and Alberta Graham Murray. She graduated from Williamston High School, the Edward W Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing and attended Michigan State University. She was married to Dr. Charles Schoff, on February 14, 1956, in Tawas and then moving to Midland. Dr. Schoff died on April 29, 2006. Marian had a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse. She served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944-45 where she was Supervisor of Staff and did private duty nursing at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Marian was the Director of the Student Health Center at Northwood University for twenty-one years. She served as a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association, the United Fund of Midland County, and the Midland Mental Health Society. She was also a past secretary of the Midland Association for Emotionally Disturbed Children, past president of the Midland County Auxiliary, the Midland County Medical Society, and was President of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Michigan State Medical Society. Marian was a member of the United Methodist Church in both Midland and Boynton Beach, Florida.
Marian died on July 14, 2011. In 2012 a gift from her estate to the Lansing Community College Foundation to support the Sparrow Hospital Nursing Alumnae Scholarship greatly expanded the scholarship’s ability to support nursing students at LCC.
