Janet (Jan) C. Foster

The daughter of James and Catherine Reed Shanks, Jan was born on February, 27, 1925, in Detroit, MI. She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing, MI, in 1943, and went on to receive her B.A. degree in English from the University of Michigan. She married Joe C. Foster Jr. in Chicago, IL, on July 6, 1946.

Jan was a full-time homemaker and mother to five children, active community volunteer (Junior League of Lansing, Okemos Public Schools, Kappa Alpha Theta, Conservancy of Southwest Florida, museum docent), avid tennis player, and baker of the world’s best chocolate cake.
