Family, Friends and Colleagues of Abel B. Sykes
Abel Sykes was the second president, and first African-American president, of Lansing Community College. Mr. Sykes held the position from 1990 until 1999. He was the first African-American to serve as chairperson of the Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors. The Technology and Learning Center Building (TLC) on Lansing Community College’s downtown Lansing campus, was named in his honor.
