Carol Hause

Carol Hause

Carol Anne Hause was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 17, 1940, and passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth and her parents, John Edward Kunze and Hazel Hunter Kunze, and her youngest son Gerald Edward Hause. She graduated from Northwestern University School of Nursing with an RN degree, and later received her master’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University. She worked in Lansing for Ingham Medical Hospital as an operating room nurse and participated in the first open heart surgeries performed there. Following marriage in August 1969, her attentions were devoted to her beloved family, survivors of whom are husband Gerald, son Jonathan, grandchildren Kelsey and Joshua, and sister-in-law Susan Runne. Carol enjoyed all sports, especially the MSU Spartans and NASCAR. She was an avid traveler and made many cruises with her family and friends. Her ability to start conversation with people made her a magnet for others. She also made the family cottage a center of activity. She is deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carol and her husband, Dr. Gerald D. Hause established the Gerald Edward Hause scholarship to memorialize their son, who died in a tragic plane crash in 1993. Before his passing, Gerald E. was a business student at Lansing Community College and a member of Wings of Mercy, a group that helps people who need to be transported to other states for emergency medical treatment.
