Bill Motz
William “Bill” Motz began at Lansing Community College (LCC) in 1977 and organized the American Marketing Association student organization in 1982. He has been a professor of marketing, sales and business education at LCC, Sienna Heights and Spring Arbor Universities. Motz has been an active member of the LCC Foundation’s Board of Directors, Alumni Committee, Finance Committee and Employee Development Fund (EDF). He has served as the EDF chair for many years. As a result, the EDF has grown to be respected by LCC employees for providing social activities, professional development opportunities, employee grants, emergency assistance and numerous other programs that are “for employees, by employees.” There is hardly an area of LCC in which Motz has not been an active participant, leader and respected colleague.
Under his leadership, the AMA student organization has been one of the most active and respected chapters; receiving numerous awards and recognitions in competitions with colleges and some of the most prestigious universities across the country – an unprecedented achievement for a community college. Because of years of successful golf outings and other fundraising events, the AMA has created the largest internal endowment fund with the LCC Foundation.
Among his most cherished contributions has been his ability to be a mentor to thousands of students who have become successful entrepreneurs and business professionals. His students credit much of their success to Motz’s early influence and personal attention. AMA and LCC alumni regularly return to visit him and meet with other LCC AMA student members.
